Babel

(again another rough draft)

“…just as the stars continue shinning long after they are dead.”
                                                                                       Bernardo Atxaga

After she leaves, you gather
all the stars together

and name each one her name
now all the fortune tellers are waiting

for you behind every corner,
their coats lined with dark

intentions and the heavens
gather themselves into

a sparkling river
that babbles her

name above
the tower

you have
built, and

sometimes
late at night

when you
are alone

you can see
her off

in the
distance.
